 Brain Train Age

For the past 20 years, I have made a point of doing crosswords and other puzzles, whenever I find myself sitting down with nothing else in particular to do. At first,  I found it difficult and challenging as my neurotransmitters and braincells seemed reluctant to fire up. But I was amazed as suddenly - and it did seem to happen all of a sudden - I found myself completing most puzzles in minutes and looking for harder puzzles to do. It was a really interesting and satisfying experience and now I regularly participate in mind games and puzzles on my home P.C.

Brain Age is inspired by the research of Professor Ryuta Kawashima who is a prominent Japanese neuroscientist. He evaluated the impact of performing certain reading and mathematic exercises to help stimulate the brain.

It is generally accepted in scientific circles, that doing mental puzzles - things like crossword puzzles etc, stimulates the brain and is thought to help avoid deterioration of mental abilities as we age. It is even agreed, that is can help ward off the onslaught of  brain diseases like Alzheimer's. The software known as Brain Train Age presents quick mental activities that help keep your DS brain in shape. Exercises solving simple math problems, counting people going in and out of a house simultaneously, drawing pictures on the Touch Screen, reading classic literature out loud, and more. You can also play sudoku, the number puzzle game which has become an extremely popular in many newspapers and magazines.

Why bother?

Brain Train Age designed to activate and train your brain. By performing daily exercises just minutes a day over weeks and months, the better you'll get at the exercises and the lower your "Brain Age" will become.

Also, as we age our bodies change and it becomes important to regularly exercise to maintain health and fitness. Our brain is no different. It needs exercise too! You've probably heard the adage, "Use it or lose it," And research indicates mental acuity may be strengthened just like the muscles of our body, with brain exercises. So, as we grow older it is strongly advisable to take on new challenges for our mind - and now, with the age of the personal computer well underway, Brain Train Age is a great way to do that. Brain Train Age features activities designed to help stimulate your brain and prevent it from going old.
